Mel Pollock is General Manager People, Safety, Environment and Quality at Evoro Group, working across the whole business from her Sydney base. She brings more than 30 years of experience to the role — beginning in human resources, moving into the safety profession for around 25 years, and over the last few years bringing both disciplines together. At Evoro she leads the HSEQ and People functions as one, joining them for person-centred care, safety and wellbeing.
Mel is a passionate safety professional who works with senior leaders to drive cultural change, in the belief that strong safety culture and practices prevent injury, engage employees and create a positive workplace. Her career spans local government, emergency services, FMCG, oil and gas, facilities management, construction and utilities, including leading the HSE function for paper and recycling at Orora (now Opal) — experience that maps directly to Evoro’s work. She is a Certified OHS Professional and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety, a qualified auditor, coach and strengths profiler, and in 2023 was named WHS Leader of the Year (under 1,000 employees) at the Australian Work Health and Safety Awards. She also serves on the Board of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety, helping to shape the safety profession in Australia.
